Real Madrid decide James Rodriguez price tag amid Liverpool and Man Utd interest
James Rodriguez could be playing in the Premier League next season - but he could cost Liverpool or Manchester United as much as £70m.
Title contenders Liverpool and the rejuvenated Red Devils have both long been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Rodriguez , currently on loan at Bayern Munich .
Bayern have an option to sign 27-year-old Rodriguez permanently this summer, which would cost the Bundesliga club 42m euros, or around £50m.
The Colombian international has said he wants to return to Real Madrid following the end of his two-year loan - but Zinedine Zidane 's arrival at the Bernabeu may have scuppered that.
And if Bayern don't take up their option to buy, Madrid will seek to raise transfer funds by finding another buyer - and slapping a higher price tag on Rodriguez, according to Spanish newspaper El Confidencial.
Jurgen Klopp and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could both be on the queue to sign Rodriguez - but it will cost them.
El Confidencial said Madrid would set their price 60 million euros, or around £70m - but would not sell for less than around 50 million euros, around £59m.
According to AS , the newspaper said: "Bayern have paid Real Madrid 6.5 million euros a year for each season (that James has been on loan in Munich), and if they want to keep him they will have to activate a purchase clause set at 42 million euros.
